Bhopal: e-Challans for traffic rules violation have come down from 10,000 to 500 per day within two months of the launch of Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), in Bhopal. Nitin Dave, public relation officer ITMS, “As challans were dispatched to residence address, people had to pay and it was quite strict. So they are now more aware about traffic rules. This is the reason, for reduction in the number of e-challans.” “Secondly, we have also improved the challan system after incorporating feedback received from public,” Dave added.

BSCDCL (Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation) and Traffic Police rolled out ITMS to strengthen four key areas of traffic management & road safety. The system checks traffic rule violation including, traffic light violation, over speeding, helmetless driving and triple riding detection. Arrangement of Traffic signals, surveillance camera and enforcement camera is also made in this scheme.
