BHOPAL: Monsoon is just round the corner and with construction and diggings being carried out along the roadsides might pose a risk to the commuters during rains.
With major infrastructural projects like road widening work, Narmada water pipeline installation, smart city project being underway in the state capital, the municipal body need to be all prepared to deal with eventualities coming with the monsoon.
Incomplete infrastructural projects, open pits, piles of debris, construction material on dug-up roads are all going to prove Achilles heels for civic body and agencies engaged in these projects.
Bhopal Municipal Corporation, and other departments have assigned development works like underground water pipeline installation, cable laying to private agencies.
Open trench for cable and water pipeline- laying along roadsides pose threat to the commuters. But as per the terms and condition, the agencies need to complete the refilling and patching work before the monsoon.
Pipe line laying works were initiated before summer in different localities and are still underway. Pipe line for Narmada water is being laid on at war footing in in city. With project still far from completion, the residents during rains will have to face many difficulties while commuting.
BMC authority stated that patching work over the road and pit is undertaken on completion and the testing of the project in that particularly area so it takes time.
At Tin Shed, one of the busiest areas in the state capital, the commuters have to face a lot of hardship as road widening and smart city project are underway. A good section of roadside has been dug and the construction work is underway and during rains it would surely pose a lot of issues to motorists.
