Bhopal: Nonprofit organisation Robin Hood Army ended the year with a pledge to eradicate hunger and food wastage through their 30 hours drive AARAMBH in Bhopal City, under which different activities were organised. Drive started 9:30 am in the morning on December 29 and concluded on December 30 at 2pm. In their continuous 3 hour long drive, Robin Hood Army started with gifting a tricycle to a specially-abled student Ravi Meena, a resident of Chalees Basti.
After that the Robins went to an old age home Apna Ghar where they distributed kits to 25 elderly people which included books and fruits along with a lot of happiness. Then they played a musical game Antakshari with them. Adding to the chain, the Robins reached to an orphanage Uttam in Patel Nagar where they distributed toys and edibles to the children, a painting competition was organised and prizes were distributed to the winners. After this they reached ‘Ujala’ a school for visually impaired, operated by National Blind Association and organized several fun activities and motivated them.
From 8-12 pm, Robins distributed food to more than 600 needy people at Bhopal Talkies, DG Bungalow, Sindhi colony and after that woolen clothes and blankets were given to people at Sultania Hospital and Rainbasera.
This act of kindness started next day at 6:30 am with giving away tea and biscuits to the needy people who were sleeping roadside in biting cold near BU, Saket, AIIMS hospital and near Bhopal station.
After that a drawing competition was organized for the children living in slum at Chunabhatti and Indrapuri and distributed prizes to them. After that the Robins gathered at Roshanpura square and in the leadership of Traffic Subedar Yadav, a traffic awareness rally was organized and made people aware about the traffic rules, they break in their routines and are needed to be obeyed.
The drive concluded with a emotional street play Bhook directed by Anshul staged at DB Mall. 60 members of Robin Hood Army highlighted how there is one section of society who wastes food and how other section of the society craves for meal of one time. Giving message of not wasting food, the play ended.
