Bhopal: Dreaded criminal, seven others held for planning loot at Badwai Bypass

Bhopal: Dreaded criminal and history-sheeter Zuber Maulana and seven others were arrested while they were planning to execute a loot at Badwai-Jod (bypass Road Nishatpura). Four country made pistols, one 315 bore gun, 21 live cartridges, a knife, 1 RP, two bikes,9 mobile handsets, chilli powder, torch and Rs 31,000 cash were recovered from their possession.

Four of the arrested persons, including 29-year-old Zuber, were wanted in firing incident at Roshanpura last week, in which one person was injured.  Police had declared Rs 10,000 reward for information about their whereabouts.

Zuber, who was on bail in abetment to suicide case, has as many as 40 criminal cases registered against him including cases under National Security Act. DIG Dharmendra Chaudhary, while interacting with media said acting on a tip off that some miscreants were planning a loot at “Badwai Jod, police on the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday swoop down on criminals. Though they tried to escape, police succeeded in nabbing them.

During interrogation, Zuber Maulana and his seven aides admitted that they were planning to deflate tyres of two-wheelers and loot them. The accused includes Zuber Maulana, 29, a resident of Bagumarao Dulha; Mohammed Wasim alias Zahid, 28, a resident of Hinautia (Ashoka Garden);  Mohammed Danish, 20, Rajiv Colony(Nishatpura) resident; Sayeed Aman, 21,  Indra Colony (Nishatpura); Salman, 25, Vivekanand Colony (Nishatpura); Mohammed Arbaz alias Raja, 20, Nawab Colony Ashoka Garden; Mohsin Khan, 29, ,a resident of Ashoka Garden.

Zuber, Raja, Mohsin and Salam were also wanted in a case of firing at Banganga, Roshanpura Square on April 16. An electrician Noman (20) and Raja were friends but the dop entered into an argument over some issue on April 15. Next day, Raja along with his friends  Zuber, Mohsin and Salman came to Noman’s house at Roshanpura.

However, since Noman was not at home, his father Nafiz came out telling them about the same. Zuber and others fired in the air and one of the bullets hit Nafiz. All the four accused fled from the spot. Police after registering the case against four had declared Rs 10,000 reward for information about their whereabouts. Zuber was on bail in connection with abetment to suicide. On April 18, Bhopal administration had demolished his house in Aishbag for encroachment.
