Bhopal: Leader of Opposition in state Assembly, Ajay Singh on Thursday informed court that he was ready to bring his mother to Kerwa Kothi, provided she leaves behind manipulators. “If she (Saroj Singh) could free herself from her manipulators, she is welcome in my home (Kerwa Kothi).

She has never been barred from coming to the house. She had chosen never to come, not even for a visit. I am ready to bring my mother to Kerwa Kothi provided she leaves behind certain unscrupulous mischief makers,” said Ajay Singh in court of JFMC Gaurav Pragyanand.

The Congress leader was appearing in a court to give his statement in a domestic violence case filed by his mother Saroj Singh. Former chief minister late Arjun Singh’s wife Saroj Singh has accused her son Ajay Singh, his wife Sunita and another son Abhimanyu Singh for harassing her and forcing her out of the house. The 83-year-old had moved a complaint in a JMFC court under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, against her sons and daughter-in-law.

For public record, there has been no harassment for any sort, no domestic violence whatsoever said the Congress leader. “When she came to attend my son’s marriage reception, she stayed in a hotel,” said Singh. “I tried my best to convince my mother to move to Bhopal and live with us after demise of my father Arjun Singh. But she, for reason best known to her, insisted on remaining in Delhi, even after she was asked to vacate government accommodation. At her behest, I organized three bed rooms flat through a family friend, which she still retains, free of rent or any maintenance cost,” Singh informed the court.

Singh said, “Mother suddenly shifted to her daughter’s residence where she is currently staying, completely incommunicado.  In fact, Kerwa House was jointly built by my parents and I, in the faith that we would remain in a functional, loving family unit, till the end of their days, then they moved to Delhi, political game began and slowly but surely the family started to disintegrate. Toward the end of the life, my father had seen through the power play and control tactics that were being used to exert dominance over family matter in general and my mother in particular. Anticipating future shenanigans, he decided to gift me their share of the family residence with the understanding that I would take care of them the remaining years of their life,” said Singh.

Petitioners seek probe into Kerwa Kothi records

Meanwhile, Saroj Singh and her daughter Bina Singh have approached revenue minister Uma Shankar Gupta demanding investigation into the mutation of Kerwa Kothi in name of Ajay Singh. Sem Verma, industrialist, said that on behalf of Saroj Singh he met the minister and requested him to inquire about the mutation status of Kerwa Kothi. Verma alleged that Ajay Singh has fake documents. The minister immediately ordered PS revenue Hariranjan Rao to look into the records.

Meanwhile, Bina Singh called on Rao on Thursday. Talking to Free Press she said she has asked for the records of Kerwa kothi from revenue department. “I met Rao as I have to put up the records in court. I have challenged the title of Kerwa Kothi.”

Litigation by mother has damaged me: Ajay Singh

Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh, interacting with journalists here on Thursday, said the litigation filed by his mother Saroj Singh over Kerwa Kothi had personally damaged him. Singh said irrespective of any clarification, the incident caused damaged to him. Singh said the incident took place just three months before elections but he would not comment on the driving force behind it. Singh said his relatives had tried to arbitrate in the matter but it was not sorted out. Singh said he was not allowed to speak to his mother.

Babaria should not speak on issue of CM candidate

Ajay Singh, commenting on the incident of misbehavior with state in-charge Deepak Babaria in Rewa, said when Rahul Gandhi had already decided that there would be no CM candidate in assembly polls, then Babaria and others should avoid speaking on that issue.

He said he condemns the manhandling of Babaria but it was also possible that his remarks must have offended local leaders. Singh said all stalwart leaders of state Congress should contest the assembly polls. He said strong leaders should be given tickets against ministers of BJP government having clout at division level.
