Having accused of subjecting students to reference books, CBSE affiliated private schools held parents accountable for it. We did that under the pressure of parents, the school told Divisional commissioner Kalpana Shrivastava at a meeting here on Tuesday.
The commissioner, however, instructed the schools’ representatives not to do unnecessary experiments on students. Addressing the representatives of CBSE schools, Shrivastava asked them to maintain uniformity in fee structure, unions and syllabus. She also stressed on quality education to deprived class students under Right to Education.
Monitoring team would visit the private schools and prepare reports and action will be taken is any lapses are found, said the commissioner. Schools are expected to keep vigil on drug abuse, ensure recruitment of well trained teachers, having well equipped laboratories, and a conducive atmosphere for the overall development of students.
Earlier, the parents had raised the issue of schools introducing additional reference books including that of General Knowledge, grammar, dictionary, work-book, practice books and atlas among others. The administration had swung into action and constituted a committee of Directorate of Public Instructions (DPI) officials to look into the issue. They were told to submit reports after inspections in schools regarding reference books, school bag weight and fee structure etc. As per government guidelines, schools are required to use NCERT textbooks only.
