Bhopal: “Entire documents are with the police department, then how is it possible for me to change or manipulate the date of birth?” said retired IG Praveen Kumar Mathur in his submission before the ACS home. The controversy had erupted in the date of birth of the retired IG, when in September 2016, the CID police registered a case against him.

After completing the investigations the show cause notice was served to the IG to submit his reply. In his reply the retired IG said when he was selected in state police services, he had submitted the birth certificate issued by the municipal corporation, Gwalior in 1982 for the joining. He claimed in the birth certificate, his birth date was July 4, 1959 and the government had assumed that his DoB was July 4, 1956, which was wrong.

The department issued the retirement order on July 31, 2016, calculated on the basis of July 4, 1959. In this process no manipulation or loss had done by the IG to the government. He stated that the decision had to taken by the government as he had already been retired and now no question of loss remained.
