Election Commission (EC) has said that owing to Model Code of Conduct all gifts given by political leaders would remain under its scanner, said CEO VL Kantha Rao. If any gift is found to be given with an intention of luring a voter, then it would be considered against law and besides taking action against the person, the price of the gift would be included in his poll expenses. Besides polling expenditure, a case of using religion for election too could not be ruled out. The commission would also keep tab on political leaders distributing crackers before Diwali.
Certified advertisements
Rao said that 25 political advertisements have been certified by the commission for campaigning purpose till date. Overall 14 Bhartiya Janta Party advertisements and 11 Congress advertisements have been pre-certified by the commission.
