Bhopal: Despite tall claims of job initiatives, the state government was found wanting when Indian Air Force came calling for a recruitment rally in state capital. Water-proof tents and facilities were missing as thousands of youths from 15 districts of the state marched into Lal Parade ground for the rally on Sunday.
This resulted in gross mismanagement. An irked air force accused the state government of non-cooperation. An angry officer said, “If the state government is not ready to provide any assistance then it should have made it clear before hand. We would not have organized the recruitment rally.” In absence of any clear cut response from the state government, airforce team had face the brunt of thousands of candidates who had converged from 15 districts, including Dhar, Dindori, Gwalior, Harda, Jhabua, Katni, Khandwa, Khargone, Raisen, Rajgarh, Satna, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Vidisha and Ujjain.
In fact, government failed to act on details provided by the air force. As a result chaos prevailed prevailed in the rally. Wing Commander Imran Khan said, “We had informed collector a month ago. Even minister Rajendra Shukla was informed about our requirement. We even spoke to Chief Secretary BK Singh. Government should have clarified its stand on facilities. We met officials at all levels and informed them about our requirement in writing. Now the condition is that we will have to complete the process till midnight and may be next day. There is torrential rain and we are facing problems in conducting the recruitment drive. Government ditched us at the eleventh hour.”
DGP Rishi Shukla said, “ It is now torrential rain and I am looking into matter what is happening at Lal Parade. However, district administration should have provided facilities when youths of 15 districts are coming to Bhopal to participate Airforce recruitment rally.”
