BHOPAL: The district administration officials and the Congress office-bearers had a heated exchange on Monday regarding the permission to organise a demonstration on Wednesday and lay siege of the state assembly. Later the district administration granted permission to organise the demonstration with many restrictions. Additional district magistrate (ADM) Ratnakar Jha said the Congressmen were continuously shifting their stands. Every time they were demanding many other things, as the administration was accepting them.
Earlier on Sunday the administration had cancelled permission to organise the demonstration alleging breach of contract.
The administration claimed that the Congress had claimed that only 2,000 to 2,500 party workers were likely to participate in the demonstration, but the inputs showed that the Congress was planning to gather more than 50,000 workers during the event. It led the administration to cancel the permission.
A meeting was conducted again between the Congress leaders and the district administration on Monday. During the site inspection at Tin Shed area, PCC president Arun Yadav had a heated argument with the ADM Rattnakar Jha and other officers for imposing the restrictions.
The ADM said, “There was nothing like heated arguments, they were putting forth their opinion and the administration was making its point.”
The administration has told the Congressmen that they were granting permission to gather around 8,000 workers at Tin Shed area. Earlier, the Congress was adamant to organise the demonstration, if the administration provides the permission or denies.
