Bhopal: Discoms start forming panels on inflated bills

Bhopal: A day after being rebuked by ministers Govind Singh and Arif Aqueel in a meeting in state capital, central region electricity distribution company issued orders to form committees to resolve issues related to inflated electricity bills. Central region discom managing director, Sanjay Goyal issued instructions on Tuesday that committees be constituted immediately in accordance with Congress’ Vachan Patra.

A committee has already been formed at state level. General managers posted at various levels have been asked to form committees at district level immediately. The committee comprises of manager of the discom (zone engineer) will be the coordinator member.

District minister in-charge will nominate 6 members including public representatives (corporator or janpad panchayat member), 2 consumers and 2 women members. The panel will meet on every second Tuesday of every month to scrutinise the applications and make recommendations on inflated bills. The committee will forward its recommendation within 3 days to executive engineer of the region. The corrected bill should be issued within a week, said the official. Consumer will be informed about the decision as well.
