Bhopal: Director Anurag Basu mulling movie over Bhopal serial killer, rape case

Bhopal: The story of serial killer of Bhopal has all the potential to make it to big screen and Bollywood biggies have started taking interest in it. The admissions of serial killer Adesh Khamra about killing 33 persons and then disposing their bodies had sent shockwaves across the country in 2018.

The other case which is now in talks for a potential Bollywood movie is a rape case which was cracked in 2009 in Gandhi Nagar area, said sources. Anurag Basu, Bollywood movies director has recently held a meet with inspector general (IG) Bhopal. In the meet with IG Jaideep Prasad, Basu has sought every detail related to the two cases and it is said that he is mulling over a movie on either of the cases.

Prasad says that Basu is showing interest in the two cases as he came to my office and sought every detail related to these two cases. The Adesh Khamra case was cracked after an unidentified body of a trucker was found in Bilkhiria area and when the cops started probing into it, the accused admitted his involvement in 33 cases across the country and that too in a way that no clue was left.

A special investigation team was then found to probe into the matter and then the cops approached other police stations in the state and outside after which the accused was termed in the media as “highway killer”. Khamra and his associates would befriend truck drivers and then kill them for loot. They would also dispose of the bodies to erase all the signs of crime. The other case which was discussed by Basu include rape case of Gandhi Nagar of 2009.
