Bhopal: Youth does 'surgical strike' on Digvijaya at poll rally |

Bhopal: A day after facing humiliating defeat at the hands of Sadhvi Pragya Singh in Bhopal, the Congress leader Digvijaya Singh sought to know if the BJP has a magic wand which helps them to derive the exact number of seats it would get even before the polling. I want to know what magic wand BJP possess as even ahead of 2014 general elections the party claimed it would win 280 seats and they got it too; and again in 2019 elections their slogan was `Abki Bar, 300 Par’ (300 plus this time) and again they got it… What magic wand does the BJP possess which can get them what they desire” quipped the former chief minister. The BJP has won 303 seats in the just-concluded general election.  The Congress leader, who was defeated by Pragya by margin of 364822 votes, said that the elections were contested in the name of national security and not on the achievements of the NDA government.

The BJP made national security the central issue and made people feel that they were voting for the country and not for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Congress leader while interacting with media here on Friday. The BJP had done the campaigning in such a manner that the entire general election centred on national security, they projected that if Modi was there the nation will be in safe hands,” said the senior Congress leader. “Had the election contested on the achievements of the government, the NDA would not have crossed 180 seats, said Singh. The saffron party, which talked a lot about development earlier, did not seek votes on that issue, he said. The Congress leader also said it was unfortunate that black money and unemployment did not become issues in the election.

Speaking about election for Bhopal seat, Singh said that his team worked tirelessly and left no stone unturned to ensure his victory. “Even my BJP friends have sent me the congratulatory messages stating that I would be winning the polls, nobody expected that I would lose the election,” Singh said. Asked about huge victory margins of BJP candidates, Singh quipped, “These are EVM results.” However he refused to elaborate stating, ‘The matter is closed’. The Congress leader assured that whatever promises he had been made in his ‘Vision Document’ for Bhopal would be fulfilled with the help of Chief Minister Kamal Nath.“CM had assured me that he will fulfil the promises,” said Singh. The Congress leader also congratulated the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pragya for their stupendous win the elections.
