Bhopal: The Mangalwara police station running in a makeshift arrangement on the campus of a Dharamshaala for a few years is waiting for shifting to a new building. A sum of Rs 6,000 is being paid to the management of Dharamshaala in a month as rent for running the police station.
The police vehicles and other vehicles of visitors also cause trouble for the residents of the area. The new building for the police station was approved after several objections related to location were raised. The construction then took another three years.
Now a fully-furnished facility is awaits the formal inauguration before police station starts operating from there. However, even after the work is done and only inauguration remains, the cops in Mangalwara are working in the old building that is built of iron sheets.
According to sources, after the change of guard in the state- transfer of three ADG rank officials in the police housing corporation is seen as the reason for new building being kept unused for over two and half months now. Arvind Saxena , the then superintendent of police (SP) who had initiated the work says that the objections raised by local leaders had delayed the work.
The new building was proposed some three years ago and when the work started, due to oppose of local leaders who had issues with the area of the building and the situation of jam due to the building, but the issue was later sorted out. Inspector general (IG) Bhopal Jaideep Prasad says that they are waiting to get date for the inauguration.
Local corporator Sanjeev Gupta says the vehicles parked by the cops or visitors are the reason for heavy congestion in the area. He says if the new building is ready for use, then what is the reason for delay now as the authorities should also bother about the problem of residents in these areas.
