BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh government has shut the Deendayal Antyodaya Upchar Yojna silently amidst election hullabaloo. Government has issued an order to stop new registrations under the scheme. The state government has given instructions to stop registration of patients under Deendayal Antyodaya Upchar Yojna as no budgetary provision has been made for the scheme. The patients already registered under the scheme will be accommodated under some other scheme of the health department, said the order issued by commissioner, health services, Nitesh Vyas.
Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna launched in September 2004 was considered to be Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s ambitious health scheme. Under this scheme, patients belonging to BPL families were given free treatment up to Rs 20,000 that includes a free medical check-up. Government had made provision of issuing a health card to the family in which details of all family members were entered. Details of patient and treatment were also entered on the card.
Kamal Nath government has been trying to remove the saffron icons from government schemes gradually. Earlier, some schemes from the higher education department and other bearing names or ideology of the previous government were shut smartly by merging them with other schemes.
