Bhopal: State government may shift the venue of tribal welfare day celebration on August 9 from Jhabua to Sardarpur following the Dalit Sena’s (DS) threat for a nationwide bandh against the appointment of justice AK Goyel as National Green Tribunal (NGT) chairman.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will attend the welfare day. State president of DS Bhaskar Salve told media in Bhopal on Wednesday that the Supreme Court justice AK Goyel have given verdict against the SC/ST act, and his decision has made the act weak.
He said that his decision created anguish in the dalit community of the country which resulted in nationwide protest on April 2. Notably, in the April 2 Bandh several people were killed and property worth crores were damaged around the country.
DS warned the National Democratic Alliance government in the centre to remove the newly appointed NGT chairman or be ready to face a recurrence of April 2 like movement. DS demanded that Prime Minister should remove justice from post.
Salve added that if Goyel is not removed then DS will call a nationwide bandh on August 9. He also demanded that mandatory document of caste of 1950 should be removed for preparation of caste certificate. He claimed that due to non existence of old record and unawareness of people their names are not in land records and due to this many students are not able to prepare their caste certificates.
He said that government have given the facility to OBC in which they have present the record of 1984 for getting caste certificates, and demanded that certificates of SC/ST should also be prepared accordingly.
