BHOPAL: While traffic authorities have successfully restricted entry of heavy vehicles in the city during prohibited hours, they failed utterly to check city dumpers plying on roads leading to accidents and traffic jams. Under the very nose of the cops, vehicles engaged at construction sites could be seen running two and fro transporting rubble to dumping ground. Entry of heavy vehicles is banned in the city during from 6 am to 11 pm and they are required to wait on the city outskirts till their entry is permitted by the check post.

However, this rule doesn’t apply to city dumpers as they are sharing space on city roads with smaller vehicles and even school buses at peak hours. Carrying tonnes of rubbles, boulders from construction and building sites, these dumpers could be seen making their way through busy roads.

The authorities are yet to check movement of these dumpers within city during prohibited hours. Stating that restriction is applicable on all heavy vehicles, traffic in-charge Praveep Chauhan said, “It is very serious matter as heavy vehicles coming to city from outside and the one within city should be treated equally.” Chauhan said that entry of heavy vehicles like trucks and dumpers inside city are banned from 6 am to 11 pm inside city, but the city dumpers are still moving on roads during the prohibited hours.

“We will look into the matter and put restriction on movement of such dumpers which are engaged at construction site to carry debris and rubble to dumping site as they pose huge risk to life,” assured Chauhan
