All types of campaigning activities came to a grinding halt at 5PM on Monday. This 48- hour silence will be shattered on the morning of November 28 when more than five crore voters will come out to decide the fate of 2907 candidates. All political parties have put in efforts to woo voters by organising rallies, road shows and public meetings in last the 10 days of campaigning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed 10 public meetings across the state whereas national BJP president Amit Shah Other star campaigners, including Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Rajnath Singh, Yogi Adityanath etc too campaigned in the state. Congress depended heavily on national president Rahul Gandhi who addressed several meetings across MP. Later Raj Babbar, Navjyot Sidhu and others too joined the bandwagon.
Political leaders from other states have left owing to guidelines of the Election Commission. The Commission had advised all political workers from outside the state to leave or face action. Checking of hotels, dharamshalas etc would be done extensively. Borders of MP have been sealed to check untoward movement. All sort of advertisements by political parties without precertification have been banned till the end of polling and it includes social media, said Chief Electoral Officer VL Kantha Rao. “No candidate or political party can campaign from 5 pm onwards of November 26. They cannot even send promotional SMS or phone calls,” said Rao.
