Bhopal: Cops need to be trained to win people’s faith, says Rajnath Singh

Bhopal: Stressing that police should be sensitive towards public, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that training programme for the cops should be designed in such a manner that they are able to win confidence of people. Advance training is a major tool to enhance the professional skills of police personnel, said the Home Minister while addressing a programme during the inauguration of a new building of Central Academy for Police Training, here on Thursday.

Rajnath said that training of Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) should be arranged for the staff who have completed the service term of five years, “This will help to change their attitude and also enhance their working”. Stressing that better training to officials to strengthen the Criminal Justice System, the Home minister said “There are many organs of the system; a good investigation leads to fair prosecution and to unbiased judicial result”.

Rajnath thanked the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for allotting the 400 acres land free of cost for the Academy. He assured that the state forces will have equal importance in the training calendar at the Academy. Presently the state Hawk Force is undergoing training at the academy.

Chouhan in his address expressed his is desire that the state forces should get more space in the academy’s training calendar. In the present time, the forces are facing technology enabled threats and to face organisations like SIMI and other terror outfits, police officials need to get advanced trainings, said the Chief Minister. He declared during a month-long statewide plantation programme beginning July 15, a special drive will be carried out at the academy.

DG Burea of Police Research and Development AP Maheshwari informed that soon they will submit a proposal to set up National Institute of Traffic Management. Every year around 1.60 lakh people loses their lives in road accidents, an integrated traffic management system should be formed to find out the solution, said Maheshwari.
