Bhopal: A constable posted at Shivpur police station on Saturday saved life of a man who fell off a train by carrying him on his shoulder and running for about one-and a-half kilometres to a nearby hospital in Seoni-Malwa from where he was referred to Hamidia Hospital Bhoopal. Doctors attending to the passenger later described his condition as serious but out of danger.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media platforms and a senior police official said constable Poonam Billore’s timely act saved the life of the severely-injured passenger.
Talking to Free Press, Poonam Billore said, “Ajit (35) of Bhadohi in UP fell off a Mumbai-bound train at Ravan Peepal village close to Pagdhal railway station under Shivpur police station on Saturday morning.”
“A Dial 100 First Response Vehicle got information about the incident around 9:30am but could not reach the spot of incident as the terrain is hilly. Hence, along with FRV driver Rahul Sakalle, I ran to the spot.
Later with Sakalle’s help I carried Ajit on my shoulder and later admitted him in a hospital of Seoni-Malwa. I came to know that his condition is stable and out of danger. He is in a state of shock. He had head injuries and suffered a fracture in thigh,” he told Free Press. Shivpur police station in charge Sunil Patel said, “Ajit is out of danger according to doctors treating him. Billore’s timely response saved Ajit’s life.”
