Bhopal: Congress party has begun to show its prospects on the BJP prior to Assembly polls, scheduled to be held in November. Congress, during by-polls in civic bodies’ wards on Tuesday, won 9 out of 13 wards. Though the results of these by-polls, being local in nature, may not have any significant impact on Assembly polls, but the win has come as a big boost to the Congress.
The by-polls of wards of Nagar Palikas were held in various areas across the state but the defeat has come as a shocker to the BJP. Congress state president Kamalnath has said that the by-poll results clearly showed that BJP’s countdown in the state had begun. Congress won on one ward in Nepanagar, Neemuch, Dabra, Singrauli, Berasia, Satna, Raghogarh while on two wards in Chhindwara. BJP won in Damoh, Mandsaur, Datia and Anuppur. One seat was won by independent candidate unopposed.
Earlier, Congress won civil bodies elections in Pachmarhi cantonment. Congress recently won four by-polls held in constituencies across the state. Congress leaders celebrated this victory at Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) office.
