BHOPAL: Members of Parliament Kamalnath and Jyotiraditya Scindia and AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, who had virtually stopped taking interest in state politics after the Congress’ defeat in the 2013 Assembly elections, will be seen together on Wednesday. The trio, along with other Congress leaders, had addressed around 25 public meetings during the run-up to the last Assembly elections. Despite that, the Congress could get only 65 seats. After that they virtually withdrew from the state politics.
They were next seen together at a press conference convened by Digvijay Singh in February, 2015 on the Vyapam issue. Though Vyapam could not help them win popular support, they are now again coming together. Sources said it is Rajya Sabha MP and senior lawyer Vivek Tankha, who is playing a key role in bringing the trio in state together once again. To ensure that they all come together, Singh cancelled his previous programmes and came with Kamalnath and Scindia to Bhopal. A senior MLA said if these three leaders start taking interest in state politics and forget their differences, then it may help the Congress. They are said to have stronghold in three key regions across the state. Kamalnath has a sound base in the Mahakaushal, Scindia in Gwalior and Chambal while Diggy commands a following in Central India. Congress MLAs, who are 45 in number in state Assembly, are also associated with the camps of the trio. In this situation, Congressmen are looking forward to coordination between these three leaders.
