Bhopal: Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday expelled six Congressmen of Rewa on Wednesday for allegedly manhandling AICC general secretary and state in-charge, Deepak Babaria. Babaria was allegedly assaulted at the Circuit House in Rewa on July 29 when he was speaking to reporters. Earlier the Congress has alleged that BJP workers were behind the incident.
State vice-president and general secretary Chandraprabhas Shekhar expelled six Congressmen Rajesh Singh, Sandeep Singh, Dharmendra Tiwari and Manvendra Singh, Bhaskar Singh and Rahul Singh. The party has also issued notices to two Congressmen, Chakradhar Singh Jawa and corporator Vinod Sharma asking them to respond within two days.
Rewa party district unit president Rudramani Mishra in a letter to AICC president Rahul Gandhi, apprised him of the incident and also mentioned the names of Congressmen involved in it. He even pointed fingers at Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh alleging that he provoked the Congressmen to assault Babaria. Names of Congress MLA Sukhendra Singh Banna and working president Grish Singh also figured in the letter alleging their involvement in the incident.
Mishra in his letter reportedly said that when Babaria stated that either Jyotiraditya Scindia or Kamal Nath would be the probable candidate for chief minister’s job, the LoP allegedly provoked his supporters to thrash him. Mishra had asked the party president to take strict action against the indiscipline Congress members.
