Bhopal: The maiden session of the 15th Assembly will begin from Monday. A sort of tug-of-war is going on between two mainstream parties-Congress and BJP-as the election to the august post of Speaker would be held a day after. Both the parties have intensified their activities. Opposition BJP, during election of Speaker, intends to check the number of MLAs with the ruling party.

Congress, seeing the political moves of BJP, is trying to flock its MLAs together. In a meeting of CLP, the MLAs were asked to remain united. Those who were not made ministers are also being pacified. Congress top leaders are in touch with MLAs– KP Singh, Bisahulal Singh, Aidal Singh Kansana and Vikram Singh Natiraja. Congress has named Narmada Prasad Prajapati as its candidate for the post of Speaker.

On the other hand, the BJP leaders spent their day in preparing strategy for the speaker election. It is mulling over fielding its candidate for the post. BJP national general secretary KailashVijayvargiya has reached Bhopal for this work. He discussed with former minister Narottam Mishra, state president Rakesh Singh and other leaders at the BJP office on Sunday. Vijayvargiya said that the decision to field a candidate for speaker’s post will be taken by state in-charge Vinay Sahasrabudhe.
