Alleging violation of Election Model Code of Conduct, Congress on Friday approached Election Commission seeking discontinuation of Chief Minister’s ‘jan ashirwad yatra’ in the state. Congress spokesperson J P Dhanopia in a complaint to state chief electoral officer said that the CM’s yarta should be stopped with immediate effect as it was violating the poll code. In its letter, the Congress alleged that Chouhan was luring the public by making announcement during his yatra.
It further alleged that CM was engaging officials and other government machinery for the yatra. Dhanopia in the complaint cited an example of October 11, when the Chouhan during his yatra in Sehore had allegedly made announcements to lure the voters. He also submitted pictures of the yatra to corroborate his claim. Congress in the complaint claimed that hoardings with pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, MP Alok Sanjar, MLA Surendranath Singh and Bhopal municipal president Surjeet Singh Chouhan were installed at TT Nagar multi-level parking.
The letter went on to say that, a hoarding of CM and minister for state Vishwas Sarang was still up near Prabhat petrol pump in Narela constituency. He has asked the CEO to take action into the matters.
