Bhopal: Economic Offence Wing has registered a case against principals of the government and private colleges and government officials for committing fraud in scholarship disbursement in Rewa district.
EOW on Friday booked case against 13 officials of SC/ST welfare department, OBC and minority welfare department for allegedly withdrawing more than Rs 1 crore in name of distribution of scholarship. The scam took place in the year 2012-13.
During primary investigation it came to fore that the principals of the colleges and officials of the two departments entered into a criminal conspiracy to emblaze the government amount. The colleges prepared fake scholarship proposals and with the connivance of the government officials, got the amount deposited in the college’s account instead of the bank accounts of the students.
EOW registered a case under section 409,420,120 of IPC and other sections of corruption against principal of Pentium Point Technical College, Bharamanand Tripathi; TRS College former principal Akhand Pratap Mishra, ex- clerk Prabhashankar Kol.
Those who have been booked also include principal and director of SS Sainath Paramedical College Dr Deepak Kulshersth; the then principal of government Aurvedic Medical College Dr ML Kushwaha; principal of SS Pandey Paramedical College Dr Vinod Pandey, director Dr Kamleshwar Prasad; the then dean of SS Medical College Dr SS Kushwaha (now retired), DSW Dr Chanda Rajak.
Assistant director of OBC and minority welfare department CL Soni, department accountant TP Ahirwar, the then district coordinator of SC/ST welfare department SD Singh (now retired), accountants and other officials of the department have also been booked.
