Bhopal: The last rites of Union forest and environment minister (independent charge) Anil Madhav Dave was performed at Bandrabhan, Hoshangabad with full state honour on Friday morning. Dave’s younger brother, Abhay Dave performed the last rites on the banks of Narmada at Bandrabhan, where Dave used to organise Jal Mahotsav in every two year. It was his wish to be cremated at Bandrabhan.
Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan after attending the funeral said that the work done by Dave will be always be remembered. “His love for mother Narmada was seen in his efforts. The mahotsav organised by him will continue as before”, said Chouhan. He also announced that he would complete Dave’s incomplete mission. Central science and technology minister Harsh Vardhan read the condolence message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where he said that he was a noble environmentalist, capable administrator and was an ideal volunteer.
Central water resource minister Uma Bharti said that Dave lived a meaningful life and on his birthday, which falls on June 6, more and more plants should be planted. Conservation of rivers and environment will be the best way to remember him, she said. Anant Kumar, union minister of parliamentary affairs said that Dave was a man of strong willpower. His was an excellent strategist of election and he always called himself son of Narmada. RSS leader Suresh Soni while paying tributes said that he loved nature and was a dedicated environmentalist. RSS leader Bhaiyaji Joshi said that Dave lived all his life serving the country, whereas BJP national organising secretary Ramlal said that he was a man of words and the party always trusted his ability. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe read the message of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at the funeral.
