BHOPAL: The chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inspected the Central Jail on Wednesday, following the incident of eight SIMI undertrials escaping from the jail. Chouhan was accompanied by chief secretary BP Singh, DGP Rishi Shukla, DG, prisons Sanjay Choudhary and ADG, intelligence, Rajiv Tandon.
Chouhan, during his inspection, was astonished to see how SIMI inmates were able to scale a 28-foot high boundary wall of the jail. Chouhan, in the presence of officers, got a jawan re-enact the scene of undertrials scaling the wall.
The jawan scaled the wall within less than 30 second, reports said. Chouhan also rebuked jail officials over prevalent corruption in jail. He said that the inmates should be not given any facilities other than those to which they are entitled according to the jail manual. Chouhan asked the officials to keep a close vigil on SIMI inmates.

Sources said Chouhan directed that those who helped SIMI undertrials escape should be identified. Chouhan asked offices to prepare a proposal on increasing the number of posts in the jail. Chouhan also sought information from officials about the incident of jail break.
HRC team reaches jail
A team of state Human Rights Commission also inspected the jail on Wednesday. The team accompanied by DIG, Bhopal range Raman Singh Sikarwar. The team members went around the jail.
