Bhopal: “As many as 619 companies have submitted proposal of interest (PoI) to provide training and employment to around 5.9 lakh youths in coming years. About 20 memorandum of understanding (MoUs) have been signed in the Global Skill and Employment Partnership Summit,” said Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan while addressing the valedictory session of the summit, on Thursday.
The CM stressed that the government was desperate in providing skill training to its youths and provide them better job opportunities. He announced that employment board will become the nodal agency and state skill development department will be coordinating with the department.
He said that “The government is working on two development models– Germany and Singapore. The Singapore model is based on valuation and assessment. In every three year new courses are included and old outdated courses are closed off. In the next three years the government will be investing Rs 86,000 crore in urban development and Rs 1 lakh crore on rural development projects.”
He also claimed that the summit was probably the first ever such programme in the country, organised by a state government. “In May 2018, I will present the report card of today’s summit decision. The companies, which have signed MoUs will not be left unnoticed, as chief secretary and myself will be monitoring the agreements.”
Speaking at the inaugural session of the summit, Union skill development minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that “Chouhan is one step ahead in implementing PM Modi‘s programmes, including Skill India, Make in India and Start Up India.”
