Bhopal: A moderately-heavy spell of rains lashed the city on Friday, dragging down the mercury a bit. The weatherman said 87 mm of rain was recorded in the city over the last 24 hours taking the total figure of rainfall in the city since June 1 to 299 mm. However, the city is still short of the average rainfall to date by 94 mm.
The maximum temperature was 28.7 degrees Celsius, which was one degree below normal while the minimum was 23.2 degrees Celsius, which was normal.
As usual, the rains brought with it miseries for the people. Power supply was disrupted in many parts of the city for long hours and roads got water-logged.
Monsoon remained active over large parts of the state in the last 24 hours. Jabalpur recorded the maximum rainfall of 120 mm, followed by Khategaon (110 mm) and Nasrullaganj (100 mm).
The weatherman has predicted that Bhopal will have a cloudy sky on Saturday with brief spells of rains. It has issued an alert for heavy rains in some districts including Rajgarh, Neemuch, Vidisha, Ujjain and Sagar.
Overall in the state, many districts have received deficient rainfall so far. Sheopur Kalan has the highest deficit of 171 mm while Khandwa has received 321 mm rainfall above the normal.
