BHOPAL: Atharv Khare, a 19-yearold Kolar boy, has opened his heart and home too for the abandoned and vulnerable animals. Compassion and love for creatures in this youth has saved lives of over hundreds of injured and ailing birds, squirrels, dogs, cattle who would have either died or developed some deformity.

Providing timely medical care, the youth not only rescued them but also find them a family and a home. A number of animal lovers have come forward to adopt the animals rescued by the teenager. They have given them a shelter and in return are receiving their unconditional love. Artharv, still shares a strong bond with the rescued canines and feathered friends.

Atharv, Kolar resident, says he developed affinity for animals when he was very young and as he grew up, the love blossomed. He could feel the pain of the injured stray animals and started bringing them home. Now, locals and his friends whenever come across any injured animal or birds, calls him up as they are sure they will be in safe hands.

The youth ensured treatment to injured six hundred dogs, fifty pigeons, 600 laughing doves, fifty cows and calves, forty squirrels, rats and one owl that he gifted to Van Vihar. Sharing, his experiences, the youth said that saving a four newborn squirrels whose mother died, was divine.

“The tiny squirrels were unable to even open their eyes and had no one to take care of them, today I am raising them and we have developed a deep bond,” said the young animal lover. Around 10 animals, who have been healed and treated, could be seen at his gate at any given time.

His neighbours though complaint, however, the youth says that dogs after treatment and gaining health return to his house and he has no heart to drive them away. Many a time I have to wake up in the middle of the night to feed the ailing dogs when they howl as my neighbour complains, said Atharv, adding that there have been verbal spat over the issue.

Earlier, it was frequent but now the people too have started feeling for the ailing dogs and now they too show compassion towards them, he added. A bird I saved and freed after treatment used to come everyday and would sit at my house until we shifted from Shahpura to Kolar three years ago, said Atharv smiling.

In all, the company was asked to pay Rs 11,500. The details of the case were shared by advocate Manish Zarola. Zarola said the plaintiff had purchased a mobile phone (Panasonic Eluga Ray X) online for Rs 6,999. After couple of days, the mobile phone developed technical snag.

“It was a newly purchased mobile, which should not have technical issues,” Zarola said. Bothered by problem, the plaintiff approached online retailer and asked to refund the amount. The seller company through the online portal refused to refund the amount.

Approaching the consumer forum bench of president Om Prakash Sharma and member Atul Jain, the plaintiff presented the case through advocate. After considering the complaint, the bench found mobile company at fault and ordered to refund the purchase amount of Rs 6,999. Further, the company was ordered to pay compensation of Rs 3,000 to the plaintiff.

These were cases were related to nomination, distribution, demarcation, encroachment, sickness and police help. After the preliminary examination, the cases were sent to the concerned department for resolving them within one month. Public hearing was held from 11 am to 1 pm
