Bhopal: The city has been decorated at an unprecedented scale to welcome BJP national president Amit Shah. The state BJP office is wearing a corporate look. Huge hoardings, banners and posters with photographs of the prime minister, chief minister and Amit Shah have flooded the city. But not a single banner or photograph of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former BJP president Lal Krishna Advani and importantly founder of the party, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia who belongs to Madhya Pradesh can be seen anywhere.

All city squares have been decorated with lights and party flags have sprung up everywhere.

Top BJP leaders including CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan are personally monitoring and inspecting the arrangements of the series of functions. Earlier PM Narendra Modi had also visited the city on October 14, 2016 and had inaugurated the Shaurya Smarak, but even then arrangements were not made at this scale.

Lunch at Narottam’s place bad omen for Nandkumar

Minister for public relations Narottam Mishra will host a lunch for Shah on Friday. The announcement has trigged a wave of speculations. Till now, Shah has visited 19 states and nowhere did he accept an invitation from any minister for lunch or dinner. Mishra had come close to Shah during the UP polls, when he was given responsibility for campaigning in 52 constituencies. Shah will not be visiting the residence of state BJP chief Nandkumar Singh Chouhan.

Mishra is being considered the prime contender for the post of state BJP chief. Some believe that Shah visiting Mishra’s residence is an indication that the latter may soon head the state party apparatus. Party organisational general secretary Suhas Bhagat is considered close to Mishra and he is believed to have played a key role in persuading Shah to accept Mishra’s lunch invite.

Traffic restrictions put in place

Traffic restrictions have been put in place for Friday in view of the visit of Amit Shah.

Shah will participate in a rally after inaugurating the statue of Pt Deendayal Upadhyay at Lalghati. The rally will leave from Lalghati and reach BJP office through VIP Road, Retghat trisection, Kilol Park, Polytechnic Square, Roshanpura Square, Apex Bank Square, 1250 Square, Arjun Nagar Square and 7-number.

Keeping in view the route of rally, the vehicles coming from airport road will have to go through Gandhi Nagar trisection, Karond Square, Best Price trisection, JP Nagar railway over bridge to Hamidia Road and Bharat Talkies trisection. Vehicles plying through the area of BJP office can take the route of Subhash School trisection to Bitthal Market, Rajeev Gandhi Square and fracture hospital. Vehicles coming from Roshanpura Square can go via Polytechnic Square, Retghat Square to Moti Masjid.
