Bhopal: On the second day of the Shikhar Sammelan of the country’s Smart chief executive officers, the urban development and housing minister Maya Singh said that citizens will also become smart with the extension of smart facilities. She said that works worth nearly Rs 2.5 crore have been approved for extension of facilities in seven smart cities in Madhya Pradesh and works worth more than Rs 2 thousand crores are in progress.
Minister said that under the concept of smart city, the process of smart thinking and working on all issues including road, water, electricity, traffic, employment etc. has begun in selected cities. This process will work as a model for other cities of the country. She said that the basic structure of smart city is being prepared in such a manner that once the facilities are extended then it will sustain itself with public participation. Maya Singh further said that serious thought would be given to suggestions obtained at the Shikhar Sammelan organized in Bhopal.
She congratulated the smart city team for the successful launch of the integrated command control centre and incubation centre under the Smart City Project in Bhopal. Principal Secretary of the department Vivek Agarwal said that it is essential to develop PPP mode and Public Bond System for the successful implementation of the smart city project.
Presentations were given on the occasion by various smart cities including Daman & Diu that has developed solar project, smart light pole and smart public bike Sharing developed by Bhopal and public bond system by Pune. Funding of the smart city project was discussed in detail in the concluding session.
Secretary Ministry of Urban Development Government of India Durgashankar Mishra including other officers and representatives of various states were present on the occasion.
