BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan appeared in a Bhopal court and gave his statement in a defamation case, filed against Congress chief spokesperson KK Mishra, on Monday. The next hearing is scheduled on April 7.
The CM reached the court of Kashinath Singh at around 11.30 am and remained for around 1.45 hour. Before the CM, collector Nishant Barbade reached the court. He took note of the security arrangements and others, following which the CM reached the court along with his advocates. In the court the CM stated how he felt ashamed on the allegations made by Mishra.
Advocate of KK Mishra, Ajay Gupta cross questioned on the CM’s statement. He asked about the Krishi Karman Award, report of National Crime Record Bureau, CAG report and others. Taking to media, advocate Ajay Gupta later said Krishi Karman Award was given to 15-17 states of the nation every year, not only Madhya Pradesh. On the report of NCRB, he said in crime against women and children, MP was the second topper in the nation and in CAG report many irregularities came out. He said he had asked the CM why he did not feel ashamed on various irregularities but only the allegation of KK Mishra.
The CM did not talk with media persons and went to meet the newly elected Bar Council members. While talking to them he declared to establish a clinic on the court premises, so that advocates and others could take health benefits if needed. Council of CM Anand Tiwari said the questions asked by advocate Gupta had nothing to do with the current case, as they were baseless. He had demanded form the court to provide time to certify the CD and the court had given April 7 as the next date of hearing.
Transport constable recruitment scam
The CM had filed the defamation case against Congress chief spokesperson KK Mishra for defaming him and his family. Mishra had alleged in a press conference on March 7, 2015, that the CM and his family were involved in transport constable recruitment scam.
Earlier, the CM had appeared in the court on November 25, 2016 and had stated how he came to know about the allegations and how he felt harassed. The next hearing was fixed on March 21, but due to tour, the CM was not able to attend the hearing. Finally on April 3, he appeared in the court along with his councils and registered his statements.
