Bhopal: CEO seeks report on stones pelted, slipper hurled during CM’s jan ashirwad yatra

Bhopal: Chief Electoral Officer has sought report on attack on the chariot of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during his “jan ashirwad yatra in Churhat on Sunday. CEO VL Kantha Rao has also sought reports from the district returning officer on slipper being hurled at Chief Minister and black flags shown to him during a programme in Sidhi.

Rao while talking to media here on Monday said that no complaint has been filed with the CEO office in connection with the three incidents. Some locals threw stones at the vehicle carrying Chouhan, who is touring the state ahead of assembly polls, in Churhat area. Chouhan was not hurt in the incident.

Meanwhile, taking note of the Congress’ complaint, CEO office has served a notice on BJP for projecting a woman police officer in one of their poll campaigns. Rao said that a reply has been sought from BJP on the matter. The CEO said that till model code of conduct comes into force in state, political party would be held solely responsible for the release of party advertisement.

After the enforcement of poll code, even the party candidate would be accountable for its release, he added. If any party wanted to release an advertisement they would have to take permission from the Election Commission of India, Said CEO.

He informed that three departments – general administration, home and revenue – have submitted compliance report to CEO office stating that officers involved in the elections of 2013 have been removed from poll duties for the upcoming elections.

ECI has permitted to provide symbols to 29 non-recognised but registered political parties for the assembly election-2018. The permission has been given on the assurance that that these parties would field candidates from at least 5 per cent of constituencies that they have committed to contest from.

The final draft of the electoral roll is going to be published on September 29, while the last date of claim and object has been extended to September 7 from August 31. CEO office has received 15,67,192 forms in connection with the addition, remove, amendment, transfer in the electoral roll.
