Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat has expressed satisfaction over poll preparations in Madhya Pradesh. Rawat was on a day-long visit to the state capital on Monday. Replying to a question asked about election observers holidaying at Bandhavgarh National Park, Rawat said that he was waiting for the report from Satna collector.
Rawat first addressed officials of 93rd foundation course at RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration. CEC had a good round of interaction with young officers who shot several questions ranging from EVMs to other electoral process. One of the officer asked Rawat the importance of information filed in affidavits with ECI by politicians that are later challenged in courts. Rawat replied that everybody in this nation is bound by laws and one has to follow the established rules.
The CEC expressed concern over use of excessive cash and muscle power during elections. Replying to a question, Rawat said that huge cash haul has been observed recently. He said that he has asked the officials to investigate into the source of cash and take appropriate action. Rawat held meeting with senior officials of the election commission after noon and reviewed status of grievous complaints and action taken on them.
He also reviewed law and security arrangements- specially those to be taken 48 hours before the polling. He left for Delhi in the evening after attending a programme at the Rajeev Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidyalya.
