Bhopal: “How long Indian soldiers will lay down their lives? Will anyone make a movie on Pulwama Terror Attack?” asked the angry parents of armymen in the city. Their reaction came in the wake of Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel laid down their lives on the Jammu highway in Pulwama district on Thursday.
They urged the politicians to stop doing playing dirty politics on this. This is the right time when the government should give a fitting reply to such attacks firmly, they told Free Press. They also said some messages related to the attack that went viral on social media are simply rubbish, and people should keep away from such politically motivated stuff. Excerpts:
We have to fight against terrorism and at the same time, we will have to see our drawbacks first. The incident occurred due to security lapses. I think, we should first build a strong make security system. My son and daughter-in-law both are army officers. And my son-in-law is in Indian navy. Manju Mehta, professor, BSSS
We are saddened and numb. How long will our soldiers will lay down their lives like this? The problem in our country is that political decisions are taken for defence matters. Why the government didn’t give power to army before the incident. Surgical strike is normal in defence, but the government is allegedly using it for their own benefit and making a film on it! Will they make another movie? I would like to urge politicians to stop playing dirty politics over it for their vote banks.
Now, the government will have to take firm decision. Also, some messages related to the attack that went viral on social media are simply rubbish, and people should keep away from such politically motivated stuff. We belong to soldier family. My younger brother is a captain in Indian Navy, son is fighter pilot and daughter-in-law is squadron leader. Pradeep Saluja,
former vice-president in a steel plant, Raipur
Words aren’t enough to deplore the situation. I think, the incident occurred due to intelligence failure not security lapses. This is the right time to hit back because now, we are getting support from leaders across world. And I hope the government will take proper action. My son is a major in the army. N V Vishwanathan, former manager (sales &distribution), HEG Ltd.
We are extremely shocked. It may ruin several families. It is high time the government should stand firm and react or else, soldiers’ lives will go in vain. My husband Naik Satish Chandravanshi is posted in Kashmir now. I was scared when I heard about the incident. I dialled him at once. After talking him i heaved a sigh of relief. Aruna Verma, homemaker
