The state capital turned saffron when BJP candidate Sadhvi Pragya Thakur filed her nomination after holding a road show in the scorching heat on Tuesday, which was the last day of filing nomination on Tuesday. On Monday, she had filed a set of nomination papers. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) state president Raju Bhatnagar showed black flag to Sadhvi when she was about to enter the collectorate premises amidst tight security. He was protesting against her comment on ATS chief Hemant Karkare.

Later, NCP leader was manhandled by BJP workers. NCP leader Raju Bhatnagar said, “I showed black flag to Sadhvi Pragya at collectorate.” Earlier, Sadhvi Pragya and spiritual leaders offered obeisance at Curfew Wali Mata (Somwara Chowk) before the road show. Large number of party leaders and supporters with saffron turbans joined the rally taken out from Somwara Chowk to Collectorate. They chanted, “Jai Sri Ram” and “Vande Mataram”. Rally of large number of supporters, which was taken out from Somwara Mandir, was stopped before collectorate.

And then Sadhvi drove to collectorate to file nomination. Immediately, wheel chair was provided to her and she was taken to collector and district returning officer Sudham Khade. Entire proceeding was videographed by drone camera. Party leaders who were present included state BJP president Rakesh Singh, MLA Krishna Gaur, Rameshwar Sharma, leader Rahul Kothari, former MLA Ramesh Sharma, Dr Hitesh Vajapyee and former advocate general Purshendra Kaurav.

BANGA : Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of doing “great favour” to Pakistan and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar by fielding Malegaon blast accused Pragya Singh Thakur for the Bhopal parliamentary constituency. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done great favour to Pakistan and JeM chief Masood Azhar by fielding Pragya Thakur, a terror accused, from Bhopal. “On one hand you are trying to build pressure on Pakistan and seeking international support to take action against Azhar and on the other hand you are fielding a terror accused in the parliamentary elections,” Tewari said, after a road show here.

MUMBAI: Disapproving of BJP leader Pragya Singh Thakur’s remarks against martyred ATS chief Hemant Karkare, the Shiv Sena on Tuesday said it hurt the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is an “asset” for the NDA. The Shiv Sena, in an editorial in its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, said Modi had been invoking sacrifices made by soldiers to raise people’s consciousness about nationalism and “terming sacrifices of martyrs as anti-national at such a time tarnishes his image”

Cruelty meted out to Sadhvi in jail unfair: Ramdev

DEHRADUN: Yoga guru Ramdev has come out in support of BJP’s Bhopal candidate and Malegaon blast case accused Pragya Singh Thakur, saying it was unfair to subject her to cruelty in jail for nine years on the basis of a suspicion. “Sadhvi Pragya was made to suffer rigorous imprisonment for nine years. There is nothing wrong in restraining her if she makes an inappropriate statement but the inhuman treatment given to her in the jail purely on the basis of suspicion was not fair,” Ramdev told reporters in Haridwar on Monday.
