Former chief ministers of J&K Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have objected to BJP’s decision to field Sadhvi Pragya Thakur from Bhopal. “She is an accused in a case of terrorism and got bail on health ground despite being fit. Despite being an undertrial, she is now contesting General Elections,” he tweeted and termed BJP’s decision as ‘Hindutva rules’. Describing her candidature as a mockery of legal system, he demand cancellation of Sadhvi’s bail Mehbooba Mufti too equated Pragya with Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik.

Reacting to senior journalist Rajat Sharma’s tweet, she said Malik too underwent torture. “Something similar too should be shown about him so that he too can garner sympathy,” she added. Reacting to their statements, Pragya said that the duo had become restless and added “I am a living proof of the ill deeds of such people.” Swara Bhaskar, Javed Akhtar and too others have opposed Pragya’s candidature.
They said that the BJP decision to field Pragya despite being on bail is a pointer to the party’s thought process. They said that she was yet to be acquitted in Malegaon bomb blast case. BJP national president Amit Shah, speaking on Pragya’s ticket, said Pragya Thakur was a living example of torture by those people who coined the term Hindu terrorism.
