Bhopal: Campaigning for six parliamentary seats came to an end on Saturday. Voting for first phase of Lok Sabha polls in Madhya Pradesh will be held on April 29. Father and Son duo are contesting election from Chhindwara seat. Father and CM Kamal Nath is contesting for assembly by-poll while son Nakul Nath is contesting for Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat. Besides Chhindwara polls will be held for Jabalpur, Sidhi, Shahdol, Mandla, and Balaghat Lok Sabha constituencies.
Election Commission has made appropriate arrangements to hold free and fair elections. An air ambulance will placed at Jabalpur from Sunday till day of polling besides two other helicopters at Balaghat. Election commission has expressed satisfaction over preparedness after holding video conference with the collectors. Special precautions are being taken in Balaghat constituency that has three naxal infested assembly constituencies including Lanji, Baihar and Paraswada where voting will take place from 7 am to 4 pm while in all other constituencies timings for voting will remain 7 am to 6 pm.
These six parliamentary constituencies have 12,713 critical polling booths and 1995 regions have been placed under vulnerably category. 13,892 special police officers, 2210 police officers, 11,191 constables and head constables besides 5,829 home guards have been pressed in these regions. Boundaries of these constituencies have been sealed and political leaders and workers who are not voters of that constituency have been told to leave the place. Liquor shops closed down at 6 pm and will remain closed for next 48 hours.
