The report of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) does not have any credibility, remarked forest minister Gaurishankar Shejwar during the general discussion on the budget in Assembly here on Monday. The remark came after Congress member Mukesh Nayak attacked the government by quoting from the CAG report. The minister said the CAG report was not final. It went to the public accounts committee and all the departments gave their explanations on the objections raised in the report. “It is not proper to level allegations against the government only on the basis of the CAG report,” he said.
Nayak then said that during the UPA government, the BJP was swearing by the CAG report as if it was the holy Bible and now the report was being described as unreliable. Nayak and other MLAs demanded a discussion on the CAG report in the House.
On the basis of the CAG report, Nayak alleged the state had suffered a loss of Rs 14,000 crore due to incomplete irrigation projects and 16 lakh eligible persons were not getting social security pensions of different types.
Govind Singh said the government should work for the welfare of the people instead of conducting religious programmes. He said the fact that farm production in MP had come down showed that the state had won the Krishi Karman awards by fudging figures.
