Bhopal: Budding wrestler killed in road mishap

Bhopal: A budding emerging wrestler lost his life in Bairasia after the motorbike he was riding was hit by a speeding truck at a turn near Narela petrol pump on Thursday morning. After the mishap, truck driver fled from the spot but the truck has been seized.

According to investigation officer SI Raman Singh, the deceased is identified as 23-year-old Abhimanyu Yadav alias Pahalwan, son of Rajesh, a resident of Berasia area. His father imparts wrestling training to youths and deceased was also one of them. He was his only son. His father works at a private firm in MP Nagar area of Bhopal.

The incident took place at around 11am when he was heading towards his office from his bike and at a turn near Nandganw, his bike hit a truck with registration number of Indore that was heading toward Bairasia.

In the road mishap, Abhimanyu sustained grievous head injuries even though he was wearing a helmet. The helmet broke into pieces after his head came under the wheels of truck killing him on the spot. After the accident, truck driver escaped from the spot leaving ill-fated truck on the crime scene which was later seized.

A case under section 304-A of the IPC has been registered by the police against errant truck driver while search has been intensified to nab the absconding accused.
