BHOPAL: Ex-Cm Digvijaya Singh has written to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to bring comprehensive law to regulate social media sites, on Thursday. He cited many incidents in which fake news and false information had caused serious threat to the leaders as well as for the citizens.
He added that in last 8 to 10 years certain groups are targeting through the social media who ever dares to speak or question powerful political leader. He added that ‘I had raised the issue of using social media sites for spreading hated and inciting violence by some organised troll groups in parliament’.
He demanded ‘Bring a comprehensive law to regulate all social media sites operating in India and also provide stringent punishment for all those who spread fake news and incite violence in the society.’
CTN campaign & Kashmiri students
He added that after the Pulwama attack a Clean The Nation (CTN) campaign was launched on on social media. The abusive post on the page caused problems so much so that Kashmiri students were manhandled up across the country.
He claimed ‘And so when people who are calling them anti national are being honoured with ‘Social Media Patrakarita Narad Samman’, by the Indraprastha Vishwa Samvad Kendra a body affiliated to RSS which is the ideology for you and the Prime Minister”.
