Bhopal bound flights diverted due to poor visibility

Bhopal: Air traffic remained disrupted due to poor visibility at Raja Bhoj Airport on Tuesday morning. Bhopal bound flights were diverted while other flights which started from Bhopal could not take off in time. Visibility was up to 50 metres. However, poor visibility was also observed at Gwalior and Khajuraho airport.

The flights which were diverted included Jet Airways Delhi to Bhopal (942641), Mumbai to Bhopal (9W2621), Air India’s flight Delhi to Bhopal (AI-0435) and AI Mumbai to Delhi (AI 0633). Airport director Akash Deep Mathur said, “Four flights were diverted due to poor visibility at Raja Bhoj Airport on Tuesday morning. The visibility was just 50 meter. Jet Airways Delhi to Bhopal flight and Mumbai to Bhopal were diverted to Indore. Air India Delhi to Bhopal flight diverted to Jaipur while Mumbai-Bhopal flight was diverted to Nagpur.”

Jet Airways Bhopal to Delhi (9W2642), JetLite Bhopal to Mumbai (S2-4171), Jet Airways Bhopal to Mumbai (9w7021) and AI Bhopal to Delhi (436) could not take off due to poor visibility.  Gwalior airport director Pramod Kumar Sharma said, “There was poor visibility but flights are scheduled on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at Gwalior airport. There was no flight on Tuesday.”

Morning fog disrupts normal life, temp dips to 26.60 C

State capital woke up to foggy morning on Tuesday. It paralysed normal life and disrupted vehicular traffic. The state capital shivered due to drop in temperature. On Monday, the day temperature was 26.6 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday, Bhopal recorded maximum temperature of 22.5 degrees Celsius which was 4 degrees below normal. It recorded a minimum temperature 14.4 degrees Celsius which was 2 degrees above normal. Jabalpur recorded maximum temperature of 19.3 degrees Celsius which was 8 degrees below normal. Its minimum temperature at 15.8 degree Celsius was 4 degrees above normal. Khajuraho recorded maximum temperature of 21.2 degrees Celsius which was 6 degrees below normal. Rains occurred in Rewa and Naugaon, which recorded 2 cms of rainfall while Khajuraho, Ramnagar and Umaria recorded 1 cm rainfall in last 24 hours.

According to meteorological department, chances of hailstorm are likely at isolated places over Hoshangabad, Jabalpur, Shahdol divisions. Shallow to moderate fog may occur in Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar, Rewa and Hoshangabad divisions. Rains and thundershower are likely to occur in Hoshangabad, Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol divisions and at isolated places in Bhopal, Gwalior, Chambal and Sagar divisions.
