BHOPAL: The City of Lakes, Bhopal, recorded highest temperature in its history with mercury touched 45.9 degrees Celsius on Friday while Indore recorded 44 degrees Celsius.
The state capital has been reeling under severe heat-wave conditions for the past one week with temperature breaking records every other day. On Friday, Bhopal recorded a high of 45.9 degrees Celsius while minimum temperature remained at 32.5 degrees giving no respite to citizens in night too.
Weathermen say Bhopal had recorded this figure earlier on June 10, 1979. On June 5, 1995 too Bhopal had recorded temperature as high as 45.6 degrees, which is less than the Friday’s temperature. Except Pachmarhi which recorded 40.4 degrees Celsius, all parts of the state have temperatures above 42 degrees.
Hoshangabad was the hottest place in state with maximum temperature of 47.2 degrees followed by Khajuraho with 46.4 and Khargone 46.2 degrees.
Raisen too remained hot registering 46 degrees Celsius on Friday. Earlier Raisen too was reeling under extreme heat wave condition with mercury touching 47 degrees for two days in a row.
Extreme heat wave conditions prevailed in Rajgarh district as well with the city recording highest temperature of 45.8 degrees.
Naugaon also did not get any respite and recorded a high of 45.2. It has been recording a high of above 45 degrees for last one week. Gwalior recorded 45.1 while Chhindwara and Damoh recorded 45 degrees.
