BHOPAL: As many as seven persons had died in the flood after incessant rainfall leading to water logging in July but the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) council on Thursday passed the agenda to give ex-gratia of Rs1 lakh and allot a house only to the bereaved family of Deepak Sahu who had drowned in flood in on July 11. Sahu was a resident of Rajiv Nagar in Kotra Sultanabad.
The resolution of compensation was presented in the council meeting at ISBT on Thursday and the BMC passed the resolution of MiC with majority for the said benefit.
The others who drowned include Prashant Pillai in Koh-e-Fiza, Raja at Chaukse Nagar, Anas Khan in Atal-Ayub Nagar, Saurabh in Chuna Bhatti, Pappu Tonda of Vijay Nagar and Kalyan Singh of Kabadkhana.
In fact, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced to provide a job to brother of Sahu and Rs 4 lakh as relief. Sahu’s brother has been appointed as 25-day daily wager in the BMC. Now, the BMC is providing Rs1 lakh and a house to the Sahus under Housing for All Scheme.
