BHOPAL: Bhopal Municipal Corporation is likely to present over Rs 2000 crore budget for the financial year 2019-20 on Wednesday. Among the many key features of the budget would be likely rise in the corporator’s fund.
Hawkers’ corner, e-libraries, shifting of dairies and other such projects that were part of last year’s budget are likely to be incorporated this year too. BMC budget got delayed due to enforcement of model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha polls.
The ruling BJP had presented Rs 1195 crore budget for the year 2018-19 with a deficit of Rs 50 crore. This year, the figure is likely getting doubled, crossing Rs 2000 crore.
The municipal corporation has received additional funds under AMRUT and other schemes and the amount will thus be used in the projects this fiscal. In the previous budget, the ruling BJP had announced ambitious projects like grade separator between
Bhopal Talkies and Bus Stand Square, a modern bus stand at Nav Bahar Sabji Mandi, Shifting of dairies, hawkers corners across city, service road between Imami Gate and Moti Mosque, Boulevard street connecting Platinum Plaza and Jawahar Square among others. Most of these projects are incomplete or at very initial stage.
