Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is getting survey done of the constituencies for the upcoming assembly polls. BJP’s central leadership is also getting surveys done constantly to gauge the mood of the voters and also to evaluate the performance of sitting legislators. The survey report revealing resentment towards current MLAs has raised concerns in the party organisation.

The report of the surveys done by the BJP at the Centre and the state levels, has said that more than 100 MLAs have bleak possibility of winning the election. The survey report includes names of several powerful leaders in the state and it is would not be easy for the BJP to deny them party ticket.

The survey report said that several ministers have remote possibility of winning this time. It has come as a big challenge to the party organization to deny them tickets.  The party has begun introspection over either denying tickets to such MLAs or giving tickets to them from any other constituency.

It is certain that the BJP would change its candidates on the seats where it had lost during Assembly polls, 2013. BJP, apart from survey of BJP leaders done, is also getting survey report prepared of Congress candidates. Several Congress MLAs are facing resentment in their constituencies. BJP is looking for such a powerful candidate who could ensure party’s win.

The survey report of the MLAs, who have won on two or more times in elections, is also adverse. If these MLAs are denied tickets then the party organization would have to do damage control. Chouhan, considering the survey report of MLAs, is also tracking ‘janashirwaad yatra’. The main reason behind crowd in Chouhan’s yatra is contenders bringing their followers for ticket in elections.

The contenders displaying their clout after ticket distribution may become a problem to the party organization. It has also come to the fore that one of the big reasons behind defeat of BJP in elections of seven wards in Pachmarhi cantonment is factionalism.
