Bhopal: A delegation of the BJP ministers on Sunday requested Speaker Sitasharan Sharma to provide security to MLAs on the premises of the Assembly in view of the voting for Presidential polls tomorrow, citing Singh’s statement on likelihood of “unpleasant situation” if Mishra attends the proceedings.

The delegation comprising Gaurishanker Shejwar, Umashanker Gupta and Vishwas Sarang handed over a memorandum to the speaker.

In the letter, they said that the statement of LoP had created fear among BJP MLAs, as the presidential election is to be held on Monday and from the day the monsoon session of the assembly will also start.

In the statement, LoP Ajay Singh has stated “If Mishra doesn’t cease to be the member of the House, a serious Constitutional crisis will erupt which will give rise to an unpleasant situation that has not been witnessed in the history of the Assembly.”

“The threat of Singh should not be taken lightly in the wake of the recovery of explosive stuff in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly,” the memorandum stated.

They have asked the speaker to convene an all party meeting and seek clarification from Ajay Singh what he meant by ‘unpleasant situation’.

Meanwhile, Ajay Singh said, “The government is trying to divert attention from various important issues, specially related to farmers death and their problems, in Vidhan Sabha, for that they are creating fuss over my statement”.

“They also want to divert people’s attention from issue of disqualification of its minister and wanted to make pressure on the Congress MLAs to keep their lip tight,” he claimed.

Ajay Singh warns of action

Ajay Singh informed that the minister has filed the petition in the double bench of Delhi High Court, seeking to participate in the presidential election and to provide permission to appear in the state assembly proceedings, but the Court has rejected the appeal on Sunday.

He asked that on what basis and capacity the minister will enter in the house and will take part in the assembly proceedings. “If the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan closes his eyes and the minister participates in the assembly proceedings, our party will take action against both of them in coming days,” he said.
