The BJP may field Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar from Bhopal in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The party has already announced Tomar as its candidate from Morena seat. The name of Tomar is under consideration as the party is not finding any strong candidate to take on former chief minister Digvijay Singh. BJP state general secretary VD Sharma may be given ticket from Morena in place of Tomar.
The RSS is insisting on giving ticket to VD. It is Sangh’s backing only that VD’s name is under consideration for the Bhopal seat. The idea to launch Tomar from Bhopal is under consideration fearing that VD may prove a weak candidate from Bhopal. The BJP has so far announced its candidates for 18 seats. Former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had discussed with the central leaders on Monday over the candidates for the remaining seats. According to sources, some more names would be announced on Tuesday.
